Bring It Back To Nature- Relaxing Activities

Summer activities usually focus on games, water slides, and barbeques. These trends are absolutely amazing and fun, but we often overlook the other great thing about summer weather:  fun, nature-oriented activities are in season! These activities are fun, budget-friendly, and can even teach you a little more about your surroundings.

Actively engaging in nature can help us reconnect and look at the world around us totally different, while engaging every family member in fun and creating fond memories.

Making Mandala Art

We see mandala art in places like adult coloring books, on Pinterest, and even tattoos. Taking the time out to collect some rocks, acorns, sticks, shells and other materials the earth is easily providing in an artistic and meditative way is easy.  The end result is always very impressive. This is something that everyone can do, even toddlers! Take your macramé art outdoors!

Starting a Nature Journal

These can be as simple or elaborate as you desire, but are a great addition to any home. A nature journal can be a good way to preserve what you do during the summer months for years to come. A nature journal can contain dried out leaves or flowers, pasted down or kept in pristine condition with laminating sheets, or a simple doodle of what you saw while on your way to work/daycare in your car this morning. You can buy a fancy journal and paints and stencils or just pick up a notebook and pen from the dollar store. Either way, a nature journal can help you look at things differently as you scout to look for new things to fill your journal with.

Paint What You Collect

Collecting things you stumble across while out is not only a great way to get closer to what’s around you, but a great way to create memories. An idea to make these things more unique is to paint them. Collecting a bundle of acorns, painting them each their own pastel color, and putting them in a centerpiece bowl can look amazing. These crafts are often very cheap and easy for anyone to do. You can collect sticks and make some unique wall art or paint rocks with inspiring quotes or a cute little face. The amazing part is you will never run out of options and always come out with something you can keep forever. You can even make new home décor for every season.
